Our Design Process

Your final design will reflect your desired style and function. It is important to remember that design is a creative process, and the project will evolve over time based on your needs.

What to Expect

There are many things to consider when designing your own home, we will do our best to bring everything together to create a final design that you will love to call home.

The most important thing to remember is that design is a creative process, not an exact science. Our goal is to find the best solution for you through discussion and revision. The best solution may or may not come in the first review.

The Process

  • The Initial Meeting: In our first meeting we will discuss your dream home and all that it includes. Imagine how you would like your space to function and feel and we will ask questions to figure out the best path to take.
  • The First Review: The first drawings you will see are the Preliminary Drawings. We will start by laying out the floor plans and elevations from the information we receive in our Initial Meeting.
  • Revisions, Repeat: After you have seen the Preliminary Drawings, you can ask us questions, take them home, mark them up, and let us know what changes you’d like to make. There may be several review meetings, phone calls, or e-mails before we make it to our final drawing. There are many things to consider when designing your own home, we will do our best to bring everything together to create a final design that you will love to call home.
  • The Final Drawings: Once the revisions are completed and you are satisfied with the outcome, we will finalize the project. The drawings will include elevations, detailed floor plans, foundation plans, cross sections, and site plans (if needed). Your new home will be ready for quote, permit, and build!

*We do not offer project management services or structural engineering. The builder must approve all drawings before construction begins and the licensed builder takes full responsibility of all drawings, design, and structural details.
